PHP Migration with PHPCompatibility Tool
You need to know how big or small the job is before you begin a PHP version migration. I'll show you how to use a free, open source tool called PHPCompatibility to generate a report that tells you almost everything you need to change, line by line, in your application, to migrate to a new PHP version. I'll show you how to set it up, choose which code from your application to include and exclude from scans, and run the report. I'll show you what reported recommendations you should focus on, and which ones you can safely ignore. I've helped migrate nearly seven million lines of PHP in the last three years. This is but one of the tools we use. Would you like an introduction?

Build a Dazzling Web or Mobile App on IBM in Minutes — No Coding Required!
The Valence Framework for IBM i, available for free download, includes a browser-based low-code development utility called Nitro App Builder (NAB), through which anyone with a solid understanding of their IBM i database can create slick-looking web or mobile apps, including dashboards and data grids with download-to-Excel functionality, all in a matter of minutes! Running entirely on IBM i, the NAB tool can also be used to create intricate file maintenance apps through which users can adjust content in one or more physical files — you control which fields they can see or edit.

All of this can be achieved with no coding, though IBM i developers can easily extend the app's functionality with RPG or SQL code to handle business logic as needed. Advanced programmers comfortable with HTML5 and JavaScript code can take things even further, creating super elaborate data-entry apps that work hand-in-hand with server-side RPG logic through the Valence Portal.

The bottom line: With Valence, whether you're a developer or a super user, you can crank out highly functional web and mobile apps on IBM i in no time — no prior experience in web or mobile development required. Come to this quick demo session to see the latest release of the Valence framework, and how easy it is to build and deploy such an app on your system.

In this whirlwind tour of DB2 encryption, learn how to leverage encryption to protect data in DB2. No matter if you are seeking to protect personally identifiable information, sensitive financial information, or the secret recipes of your IBM i-based pizza-making business juggernaut, come here to learn how Db2 for i encryption differs from other RDBMS's, how easy it can be to implement transparent data encryption, and how encryption can help you to comply with national and international data protection regimes. Yes, things like RCAC and field procedures will be mentioned, too, but don’t worry. If you enjoy maximum content and minimal boredom AND manage an IBM i, this is for you.

Intro to Techniques Used to Manipulate HTML at Run Time
This session will provide a glimpse into a handful of strategies for changing HTML at run time. This kind of manipulation is usually needed when building a web page that is to operate like an IBM i business application. Similarly, we are going to need a way to change the literal HTML UI element properties at run time based on run time conditions. We’ll take a high-level peek at techniques, while avoiding focus on pros and cons. However I may bring in a little bit about the primary focus of a technique based upon the kind of challenge I think it is intending to solve. We’ll touch upon CSS3 media queries, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP and compiled code-behind, not necessarily in that order. I’ll include a bit of syntax when I think it helps.

Using the SQL procedural language to create user-defined table functions
Many IBM i Services rely upon user-defined table functions (UDTFs) to return back results as a table that can be easily queried using a SELECT statement. If you are familiar with these service, you know how useful and powerful they can be. You too can write your own UDTF that returns back real time results as a table. Because UDTFs are called using SQL, they allow you to move your business logic into a single location that can be called from different applications and different languages. Your IBM i is central to keeping business running smoothly, but other components and servers play a critical role in your enterprise environment. If left unchecked, any one of them is a risk that could lead to downtime for your business—and heartburn for you!

You need a way to proactively identify and mitigate the risk before an outage occurs!

In this session, you’ll see how Robot Monitor software captures critical information about VIOS, IBM MQ, BRMS, MIMIX, PowerHA, IBM i, AIX, Linux on Power, and more for multiple partitions and displays it in a single interface. You’ll learn how to:
